Taylor's Anime Fest 2008

I went to the Taylor's Anime Fest. And experienced my first 'ないで！恥ずかしい....' moment.

Arrived at noon, so I missed the morning happenings (as it turned out, I missed out on something EPIC. Has to do with meido and trap). I did what I always do, snap pics. Problem is my camera is just about dying and all my pictures turned out like crap, lines and all.

Gah. Anyway, pictures it is.

On to figyas, booths and what-nots:

As usual, I was itching tempted to buy a figure, but at prices going to nearly RM200 per PVC, I was left mostly lingering around the booth battling with the angle and devil at the side of my head. The cheapest figures going were some Figmas going for RM90, but I don't like Figmas because they make figures look like cheap dolls instead of sculpted works of art. There was a swimsuit Mikoto going for RM130, but I never even finished School Rumble. And those Max Factory Haruhis have actually appreciated in value. When they first came out they were about RM120(4000yen) but now apparently it's hard to find 4000yen range figures of that scale, and the MF Haruhis are now going for nearly RM200. Wth man, should've bought them early. >.< Sorry niisan, I can't get you Kotomi for your birthday :((

Prizes for the cosplay competition-- EXPENSIVE FIGURINES. I have personally experienced the exponential gravitational pull of extrinsic motivation. >.<
Band playing God Knows. They were very good, especially the guitarists, but the MPH has crap acoustics and all we could hear was the drums. Ah bummer, I was hoping to hear the sweeping solo played live.


The committee managed to rope in Sushi King to supply food. From what I can see, business was good. I got 3 packets of sushi worth about RM13 for only five bucks because I bought it when they were closing shop and wanting to sell off the last bits. :D


Finally, no con would be complete without at mass group anime dance. They did Hare Hare Yukai, Caramelldansen, Motteke~Seira Fuku~ and some other dances I don't know. It was fun to watch. Someone of the dancers (like the God Knows vocalist) were very good, knew all the steps and moves.

TAF 08 seemed a little bit lacklustre compared to last year, but the one last year was my very first con so I may have different expectations, having been to CF and all. I won't say it was disappointing though, there was good fun to be had all the same, and while I didn't get to meet local animebloggers, I got to know some other people as well. Maybe it's time to stop lurking the forums and start joining them. :D
